King of Instruments: Instrument of Kings unites the organ\, the most complex\, flexible and powerful instrument heard in the baroque\, with the rich\, contralto voice of the flute played by Frederick the Great\, notorious monarch of Prussia. \n\n\n\nThe program features baroque music by Bach\, Telemann\, Hasse\, Quantz and Kellner that will defy your expectations of the era. The music played by Frederick and the musicians at his court is by turn subtle\, refined and as moving as the best operatic arias\, then brims with the fire and virtuosity that befitted a king. \n\n\n\nHere this music is brought back to life by these unique instruments in a rare combination that\, surprisingly\, has historical precedent in the chamber music making of Frederick and his equally musical sister.

Some of us are ‘real’ musicians\, some of us are beginners\, some of us are audience. We are an inclusive mix of gender diverse\, neurodiverse\, Christian / Non-Christian people. Curiously\, we have been welcomed to do this thing in the most visually and acoustically stunning church in Subiaco. We respect and honour that precious gift.
